Grundtvig project "People and Places"

Major keyword in this Grundtvig project is inter-generational solidarity between older and younger generations. The overall objective of ”People and Places" is to focus on creating a bridge between older people as mentors of young people using art activities as a major tool of achievement. During the project, people from different generations will be working side by side in non-formal learning activities and come together in series of meetings hosted by each of the partner organizations.

Communication tools will be a range of art-forms such as photography, painting, drama, video and dance to create exhibitions which showcases each of the host cities. By doing so partner organizations will work alongside other adults, they will develop a greater sense of European cooperation and share experience and good practice in a way that develops their own knowledge and competence.

Besides the art activities, project partners will develop a preparatory questionnaire defining the informal and non-formal educational needs of today's youth and it will be examined by older generations participants as mentors who will define a programme with them. Questionnaires will be applied during all the phases of mentoring for the implementation of the project  and the results will be evaluated by partner organizations.

”People and Places” will enhance the transnational cooperation among informal and non-formal adult learning associations in partners’ countries, promoting the exchange of knowledge, experience and best practices both through international meetings and a constant communication with the help of ICT. Important issue is the dialogue between generations, with inter-generational solidarity as the final outcome. Participating countries are : Estonia, Italy, Lithuania,The Netherlands, Romania, Spain and Turkey.

People and Places is sponsored by the European Comission in the frame of LifeLong learning programme Grundtvig. Grundtvig's range of adult education opportunities are not about work related skills and qualifications. They are about learning for living and enjoyment; the kinds of learning that often go unrecognized. Grundtvig helps to raise people's life, knowledge and competences. This not only has a positive impact  on the communities they live or work in, but also encourages a more accepting and inclusive society. Grundtvig also puts adult education staff in touch with each other. Staff, volunteers, and trainers can spend time seeing how colleagues across Europe approach things differently - for example, by forming partnerships, undertaking job shadowing, or attending courses and conferences abroad.
